In support of brave Iranian Women
Suppression, Tyranny and Crime against Humanity
Must be defied where ever it may be

"NEDA died with open eyes,
It is a shame to be alive with closed eyes"

Iranian women have been at the forefront of continued uprisings in Iran, echoing a clear message to the world:
"The Iranian regime has no legitimacy and future and people chanted 'Death to Dictator' and called for Freedom and Democracy"

Concurrent to the brutal suppression in Iran and to distract attentions from crimes committed, Tehran regime ventured in yet another crime.
On 28 July 2009, Iraqi armed forces attacked Camp Ashraf (near Iranian border in Iraq ), home to 3400 Iranian defenseless dissidents including 1000 brave women. This brutal attack resulted in 9 dead, 500 wounded and 36 people taken as hostages. All 1000 women and camp residents have been "protected persons" under the 4th Geneva Convention" each playing a significant role in the struggle against the misogynous fundamentalist tyranny in Iran .

As Jurists and NGOs including Amnesty International express abhorrence at the ongoing violence in Iran and Camp Ashraf against women, we the undersigned:

1- Demand release of all political prisoners in Iran specially women prisoners who are in deplorable situation

2- Demand immediate release of abducted 36 residents of the defenseless camp refugees, wounded and abducted on 28 July

3- Fully support the struggle of Iranian women to establish Freedom and Democracy in Iran

4-Support the rights of 1000 women and other residents in camp Ashraf under International Conventions

5- Demand a trial of those responsible for crimes committed against Humanity (in Iran and camp Ashraf ) by competent International courts.

6- Ask for the immediate presence of UN observation team or the presence of a competent UNHCR in Ashraf to control the critical situation.

Some examples of letters that could be sent is as below:
Dear ………….., I am an Iranian writing to you. I would like to draw your esteemed attention to an urgent humanitarian issue and request your help. As you may know, Iranian regime’s suppression and terrorism is not limited to the boundaries of Iran. Since June 12 that the uprising started in my homeland, the Iranian regime has escalated its brutal pressures and suppression against 3400 Iranian dissidents who are residing in Camp Ashraf in Iraq. On 28 & 29 July 2009 and at the behest of the Iranian regime, Iraqi army and police attacked brutally the unarmed, defenseless residents of Camp Ashraf which left 11 camp residents killed and 500 injured, and 36 residents were forcefully taken away from the camp. These 36 have been on hunger strike in protest to their abduction. Despite three rulings by the court - on August 23rd and September 17th and 27th - ordering their release, the Iraqi government not only did not release them, but in yet another inhumane act the Iraqi forces severely beat the hostages and transferred them to an undisclosed location. The beating was so severe that a number of them went unconscious, a few others had their hands broken, and all the rest were bloodied. They have now begun a dry hunger strike that will cost them their lives in just a few days. I humbly request that by allocating your precious time, you sign the following letter or write a similar one to save the lives of 36 innocent people who are about to die in few days. I would also be very grateful if you could send me a copy of your letter to the UN Secretary-General. I very much look forward to hearing from you on this extremely serious matter and assure you of the expression of my highest regards. Very truly yours, Dear Secretary General, I am deeply disturbed that following unprovoked attacks by Iraqi army and police against unarmed, defenseless residents of Ashraf Camp in Iraq on 28 & 29 July 2009 which left 11 residents killed, more than 500 wounded, 36 others abducted and taken forcefully from the camp and are currently in a very dire situation. I learned that on October 1, 2009, the Iraqi forces raided the Khalis city prison where the 36 abductees were held and forcibly transferred them to Baghdad. This is while for the third time the Khalis court had ordered their release and the Iraqi chief prosecutor said on Wednesday that “We have issued orders to all police stations to release them wherever they are.” The 36 detainees have declared that they have gone on dry hunger strike which means they will die in a few days. I am gravely concerned at the conditions of these 36 Ashraf residents and hold the government of Iraq responsible should anything happen to those people. I request that you intervene in this humanitarian issue and urge the Iraqi government to immediately release the residents of Ashraf who are illegally kept in custody. Respectfully,
